The practical
driving test will last approximately 40 minutes and
it will be a test of your overall ability at a safe
standard. The test will include an eye sight check
at the start of the test which you have to be able
to read a number plate at a distance of 20.5 meters
on an old style number plate or 20 meters on a new
style number plate. After the eyesight check you
will asked two safety questions and then you will be
examined on you general driving. The test will
include two reversing exercises, which will be
chosen from reversing around a corner, turning in
the road or reverse parking.
You
may also get asked to carry out the emergency stop
exercise.
To pass the practical test you
will need to make no more than 15 driving faults, if
you make anymore than 15 or one serious fault you
will fail the test.
Vehicle Safety Questions
The vehicle safety checks are basic safety checks
you carry out to check the vehicle is safe for use.
Some checks may involve identifying where fluid
levels would be checked but you would never have to
physically carry the checks out. You will be asked
two questions one “Show me” and one “Tell Me “
question, if you were to get either or both
questions wrong it would be marked as a driving
fault. It is acceptable to refer to the vehicles
computer system if it informs you of when checks
need to be made if the vehicle has these
capabilities. |
